A Summer of Learning — Chambers Judd & Animade
| YCN — Free

Tom Judd, James Chambers and Ed Barrett kicked off our summer long series of events with an inspirational talk in the YCN Shop & Library.

Tom, James and Ed (the talented trio behind interactive practice Chambers Judd and animation studio Animade) enigmatically described their professional trajectory to-date; charting their progress through workspaces of ever increasing scale while affirming a fundamental belief in the value of self-initiated projects (alongside client work).

Having explained the distinctions (and complimentrary overlaps) between their digital development and animation practices; Tom, James and Ed talked us through the brilliantly playful Ready, Steady Bang, Jolly Good, Smile and Lernz and explained that developing such properties has proven infinitely more valuable as a new business generator than cold-calling or firing off portfolios to their favourite companies. Finally they kindly introduced some of their favourite books to the YCN Lending Library including Cartoon Modern: Style and design in Fifties Animation and Living with Complexity.
