Led by strategy consultant and leadership coach Liz Whitney, this hands-on half-day session is for those keen to explore coaching mindsets and methods for enriching management at work.
Within this workshop, we'll be learning first hand about the coaching methods, mindsets and broader approaches that we can put into play day-to-day to have naturally positive and supportive relationships with those around us — particularly our direct reports.
The session will combine a mix of moderated conversation as a group, simulation and demonstration led by Liz, and the application of what’s been shared in smaller groups. And we'll be taking loads away to apply, test and learn from back in our own businesses.
What you’ll take away from the day
• Awareness of how a coaching mindset can improve your leadership style with direct reports
• Deeper understanding of the basic skills of coaching — listening and questioning
• Knowledge of pitfalls to avoid
• Further reading and resources to enhance your own learning
Who this is for
You may have a curiosity about coaching or have been coached and seen the value first hand. You may feel like you spend more time solving problems for other people than getting on with leading. You may struggle with delegation and accountability within your team. You may recognise you need to adapt your leadership style to step up to the next level. We'll be curating a well balanced group of people from like minded organisations, with relevant experiences, challenge and perspectives to share with one-another.
A strategy consultant and leadership coach, working within fastly growing business like ustwo, Hive and Adaptive; Liz has experienced coaching from both sides of the relationship, both as a coach and a client herself.
In this short film, she breaks down the difference between mentoring and coaching, and discusses how it can help transform processes and people at work. She also argues that people in senior roles should see themselves as a work in progress, and consider how coaching can help them become more effective and inspiring leaders.
