In a morning marbling workshop, the team from PATTERNITY explained how experimenting with pattern can encourage creative focus and flow.
Taking place in the YCN Library, this hands-on, two-hour workshop will see 12 participants discovering the positive effects of stepping away from digital devices and getting hands-on with pattern.
Led by pattern specialists PATTERNITY, the interactive session will show how playful experimentation with pattern can encourage relaxation, focus and creative flow.
As well as sharing an insight into their projects, processes and core philosophy, the PATTERNITY team will guide the group through marbling ink and water techniques — demonstrating how this traditional craft can help unleash your inner creativity. As they put it, "in a culture of rigid self-help programmes and controlled processes, we celebrate the joy of serendipity. For us, the craft of marbling brings to life the psychological reality of 'flow', where action and awareness are effortlessly united." This opportunity to get messy and creative will be paired with conversations and exercises on achieving creative flow.
No two marbling prints are ever the same, and so each participant will create and take away their own completely unique paper artworks, cards and envelopes. All materials will be provided by PATTERNITY.
PATTERNITY was founded by Anna Murray and Grace Winteringham in 2009. United by their deep love of pattern and its ability to bring ideas, people and perspectives together, they wanted to share the positive power of pattern with the world. Through their projects, products and educational events, they aim to inspire more curious, collaborative and connected ways of living.
