Sam Leith: Write to the Point
Event | YCN — For our members

On the 27th of March we gathered in the YCN Library to hear author and journalist Sam Leith talk about his new book, Write to the Point.

Journalist and author Sam Leith has written his way to the top. Today he is recognised as one of the country’s most respected writers, as a serial broadsheet contributor and columnist, novelist and broadcaster.

Having begun his career at the satirical weekly, Punch, Sam soon landed himself a job at The Daily Telegraph, where he served as literary editor until 2008. Since then, he has worked as a regular columnist for a number of respected publications, including The Evening Standard, The Financial Times and The Wall Street Journal Europe, while being the literary editor of The Spectator.

Sam has compacted his wealth of experience and expertise into witty works of non-fiction, with Words Like Loaded Pistols, You Talkin' to Me?, which explores the art of rhetoric, and most recently, Write to the Point – his comprehensive guide to effective writing.

From job applications to love letters, Write to the Point offers succinct, foolproof advice for anyone faced with a writing challenge, to ensure that they get their message across confidently and clearly on any occasion.

On 27th March, members from backgrounds in everything from marketing, to PR, to copywriting joined us to hear Sam tell the story behind his latest work.

Partner with us

Creatively-driven organisations partner with YCN to continually build capability throughout their teams.

Our open, year-round learning programme brings people from across these organisations together, enriching their mindsets and skillsets, and building their networks too. We take targetted, topic specific sessions into members’ teams at their places of work; and, when required, help our members to connect with the smartest thinking from across our network in relation to specific business challenges.
