Essential Creative Project Management
Workshop | Shoreditch House — For our members

A half-day workshop led by project management specialists to develop capabilities among those managing all kinds of creative projects.

It’s not just project managers that have to manage creative projects. With the increasing elasticity of roles in creatively driven businesses, project management know-how is increasingly required by a much broader group – from designers and developers to marketers and studio managers. And in a world where we need more, faster, these skills are even more relevant.

This half-day session sets out to cover the essential principles of modern project management and examine the effectiveness of some emerging methodologies. We will share experiences and learnings amongst the group and hear from established project management specialist David Merson, Senior Project Manager at data visualisation studio Beyond Words, who will present and discuss his methods and experiences, and set challenges to inspire new ways of thinking and working.

What will we cover?

Defining and managing stakeholders, setting expectations, sharing and narrating work, saying no, defining deliverables, giving effective feedback, check-ins, listening skills, creating calm in the chaos, managing clients and collaborators, and relevant tools and platforms.

How will the session be structured?

We’ll combine group discussion with hearing the perspectives of our guest specialist. And we'll put things into practice on the day, individually and in groups. As with all YCN sessions, we’ll enjoy a hands-on combination of sharing, listening and doing.

Who is this session for?
Those looking to expand their capability to get things done in a structured, productive and collaborative way. So, that could be a project manager, but also anyone that manages projects within their role including designers, brand managers and studio managers. You might be new to the role, or with some experience under your belt, but if the scoping, oversight and delivery of things sits within your role, there will be lots for you to take away from this session.

As with all YCN workshops, we ask you to come prepared to share your experiences, challenges and insights with the group.
