Entrepreneur and CEO Sam Conniff Allende will join us in the Library to discuss the buccaneering thinking in his brand new book.
Multi award-winning social entrepreneur, co-founder and former CEO of youth-led creative network Livity, Sam Conniff Allende is hoping to add 'best-selling author' to his CV with the arrival of his first book, Be More Pirate. As much a philosophy as a book, it looks at the rebellious, innovative and disruptive strategies of pirates and how they can be applied in a modern day context to find success:
"Have you ever wanted to make your mark on the world and wondered how?
Have you ever wanted to stand up to the system, break it, or make it better?
Have you ever wondered how to find success amidst unpredictability?
The answer? Be More Pirate."
Sam's book draws parallels between famous pirates like Henry Morgan and Blackbear, and "modern day pirates" – pioneers in technology, business, science, politics; offering advice on how to replicate and apply their tactics to find personal success in life and at work.
On the evening of 14th June, Sam will be visiting to talk us through the ideas in his book, challenge our thinking and answer our questions — before adding a copy to the shelves.
If you'd like an early insight, here's a great interview with Sam on the Eat Sleep Work Repeat podcast.
