School at YCN: Illustration Course
| YCN — Free

For one week in September, YCN invited five aspiring illustrators to take part in an intensive course at 72 Rivington Street.

Over the course of the five days the students (who had all graduated from art and design institutions from around the country in the last three years) were introduced to a number of professional development ideas within the discipline.

The students had the opportunity to work within our base of operations and alongside core members of the YCN creative team. They were also presented with some challenging live creative briefs set by the likes of Steve Fenn and Tom Pollard from Design by St, and YCN Studio Designer and Ideas Illustrated Art Director Alex Hunting.

The class enjoyed visits from established practitioners Anthony Burrill, Adrian Johnson as well as YCN Talent Agency illustrators Dan Woodger, Maggie Li, Marcus Butt and Toby Triumph. They also had the opportunity to gain an insight into the worlds of publishing and editorial illustration from Cathy Olmedillas, founder of Anorak Magazine, and The Church of London's Victoria Talbot and Paul Willoughby.
