We will be bringing together a group to share experiences around diversity in their organisations, with Sereena Abbassi, Head of Culture and Inclusion at M&C Saatchi.

It almost goes without saying that — with their ability to draw from a broader range of backgrounds, cultures and perspectives — diverse teams produce more creative ideas, and have the ability to create concepts, content and campaigns that will have greater appeal to a wider slice of the population.

But while many organisations within the creative industries would consider themselves to be inclusive and supportive of diversity and inclusion, it isn't something that is always 'actively' considered when building and growing their teams. While there are some companies and programmes that are successfully helping to boost diversity in the industry, such as Ogilvy’s The Pipe creative internship and The Other Box’s Unconcious Bias workshops, on the whole there is still has a long way to go – with a significant underrepresentation of women and BAME groups in particular. 

So, how can agencies and brands ensure they are future-proofing their organisations by opening them up to a diverse pool of candidates? And how do we engage more people in the discussion, whilst navigating the complexity of the space? 

On 13th July we will be bringing together a group to share learnings and experience of tackling challenges around diversity and inclusion in their organisations. We will be joined by Sereena Abbassi, Head of Culture & Inclusion for the M&C Saatchi Group, who will be sharing her approach to helping agencies develop strategies for diversifying their teams.

Sereena is also the founder of All Here, a social enterprise that connects individuals, brands and agencies; supporting them to think more critically about the world and the work that they create. Sereena has worked with organisations such as Creative Equals on their D&I strategy, she's on the Advisory Board for the DIMA Summit, and she is one of the few Diversity & Inclusion experts advising the UK Advertising & Media Industry Diversity Taskforce.
