We'll combine instruction, discussion and action around modern, creative and consensual approaches to negotiation and "getting what you want without being a ****."
In his book The Power of Soft, coach and writer Hilary Gallo outlines his refreshing and progressive approach to negotiation, sharing mindsets and techniques that enable us to draw strength from our mental core, and improve our power in relation to any situation. Hilary draws from a number of experiences, including solving difficult negotiations in large organisations, mediating small disputes and even working with primary school children.
Led by Hilary and a member of the YCN team, this pacey and structured session will combine a mixture of instruction, conversation and practical applications of key ideas and approaches from The Power of Soft, as well as Hilary's broader toolkit. Our goal is to build better negotiation skills, which can be continually improved upon in response to our own challenges and objectives. How can we bring out the power of soft within ourselves, while remaining strong at our core?
This 90 minute workshop session is for anyone that wants to better understand effective negotiation, and is happy to share their challenges and opportunities among a group of like-minded peers. In addition to the resources, recommended reading and action commitments that will follow the session, there will be some light pre-session work (no more than half an hour of time needed to complete).
Everyone will share a current negotiation challenge in advance, and leave with actions and commitments to transfer the learning from the session back to the challenge.
Who is this session for?
As part of our Leading Now series, this session will be framed for leaders and managers with at least one direct report.
