How to Begin: strategies for creativity
Workshop | YCN Rivington Rooms — For our members and programme participants

Michael Atavar will lead a group through proven and practical strategies for generating ideas, and moving new creative projects forward.

What are the challenges you face when starting a new project? Do you struggle with the blank page and how to start filling it? Or to sidestep your inner critic?

In this half-day workshop; artist, author and creative consultant Michael Atavar will guide us through a number of exercises designed to help begin, find a voice and generate new ideas. Drawing from his numerous books on creativity, and his work with brands, leadership teams and educational institutuons globally — Michael will provide us with a practical framework for understanding our creative process, and share proven techniques for getting our newest projects underway in 2019.

What we’ll cover:

• Working with the blank page

• Practical techniques for beginning

• Understanding and using the critical voice

• Dealing with obstacles, and keeping momentum

How the session will be structured:

This will be a very a practical and energising workshop including games, challenges and other interactive elements. Expect to think, write and draw — and to discuss your processes and ideas with the group.

Who the session is for:

Anyone who finds beginning creative projects challenging, and wants to learn new approaches to put into practice.
