This practical, full-day session is for those keen to better understand coaching principles and techniques, enabling more positive and impactful relationships among their teams.
"Coaching is an art and it's far easier said than done. It takes courage to ask a question rather than offer up advice, provide an answer or unleash a solution." Brené Brown, author of Rising Strong and Daring Greatly
Coaching is more than just an applied skill. It offers ways of approaching and managing relationships equipped with the right mindset and tools to purposefully unlock potential. And you don't need to be a qualified coach to learn and apply coaching principles and techniques in day-to-day relationships — and to instantly positive effect.
But how we can we get ourselves into this coaching mindset in the first place? What will it mean for our relationships? And how can we keep this approach to relationships front of mind, and regularly in practice?
Over the course of this workshop, led by coach and consultant Liz Whitney, we'll explore and answer these questions as a group. Beginning by learning about core coaching concepts and principles, we'll then share and practice frameworks and techniques covering listening, questioning, mirroring and much more besides. You'll leave with lots to take back and apply among your teams, and tools to ensure these powerful new behaviours become habits.
What we'll cover:
Coaching Vs Mentoring
The pitfalls of directive leadership
Active listening skills
Listening for metaphor, and qualifying questions
Bad listening behaviours and the power of silence
The GROW model
Making your coaching mindset habitual
Key coaching tools for everyday use
