The Coaching Mindset
Workshop | YCN Rivington Rooms — For our members and programme participants

This hands-on full-day session is for those keen to explore coaching mindsets, and learn practical methods for enriching relationships at work.

A coaching mindset is a critical, modern tool for enabling teams to perform at their peak. Led by strategy consultant and leadership coach Liz Whitney, this hands-on session quickly builds coaching capabilities to enrich relationships and create positive impact with those around you at work. Among a supportive group of peers, we’ll mix instruction and discussion with practical exercises, coaching tools and techniques to be tried out and tested — and then taken away for immediate application.

What we'll cover:

• Empowering through questions not answers

• Listening techniques and ‘levels of listening’

• Coaching for delegation and creating accountability

• GROW and other coaching methods

• Recognising bad listening behaviours

• The pitfalls of directive leadership

• Using metaphor, and qualifying questions

• Making a coaching mindset habitual

How will the day be structured?

This full-day session will combine an energising mix of instruction, group conversations and lots of practical exercises so that new methods are being put into immediate practice among peers. A healthy lunch will be provided, and partipants will receive printed and digital resources to support the transfer of learning back to work.

About Liz Whitney

Liz work’s with creative, design and tech businesses to help them and their people grow.  As an ICF Associate Accredited Coach (ACC), Liz specialises in enabling high-potential employees to level-up their people skills, bringing over 18 years of experience working within digitally driven organisations. It was while she was a member of the London leadership team at ustwo, that she experienced first hand the transformative impact of coaching on individuals and teams.

“The pace was great, calm and unrushed. Liz was authorative and in control, but put her own ego aside to teach rather than trying to brain dump everything she knew, which is usually how courses go. Great space, great groups and I learned loads. One of the best courses I’ve ever been on.”
— Anna Clare, Head of Digital, Innocent

“The practical exercises were invaluable, and the handouts and worksheets were great.  Yes. It brought about a massive amount of self-awareness. Enabling me to self-reflect and consider how best I can lead and develop my team in a coaching mindset.”
— Vicky Stoakes, Client Services Director, Red Setter

“Liz was a fantastic trainer, she was encouraging, informative and confident; creating a great atmosphere in the room. A really great mix or learning, listening and practical exercises. It remember the exact moment the penny dropped for me about why I’ve been facing challenges with some of my previous leadership tactics.”
— Georgie Mew, Marketing Director, The Princes Trust

Our open, year-round learning programme brings people from across these organisations together, enriching their mindsets and skillsets, and building their networks too.
