Yoga for work
Class | YCN Rivington Rooms — For our members

At this new yoga class we'll physically counteract the effect work has on our bodies, and explore how yoga philosophy can give us a new perspective on our work challenges.

There are many well-known benefits of physical yoga practice, whether it's stress reduction, increased energy and focus, or a stronger, more flexible body. Taking a small amount of time out of our busy weeks to move and breathe can make all the difference, and equally benefit our work as well as other areas of our life.

On a deeper level, the yoga tradition also offers a great deal of wisdom on how to live well, including many teachings that can be applied to our work. The yogic teachings on livelihood and vocation offer a pathway for making our daily work a practice — for getting clarity on our values and then bringing an attitude to our work that allows our actions to reflect and serve those values. What matters most from a yogic perspective is not necessarily the work we do, but how we do it.

What we’ll cover:

Ways to physically counteract what work does to our bodies — think hunching over a desk all day — as well as exploring how yoga philosophy can give us a new perspective on our work. We'll use our time on the yoga mat to cultivate ways to find freedom and joy off the mat, even in the parts of our jobs we find most challenging. Themes covered in the series will include topics such as grounding, building compassion, finding focus and clarity, taking positive action and increasing resilience.

How will the session be structured:

Over 60 minutes, the session will follow a traditional yoga class format with participants practising a series of guided movements and postures, including some meditation and pranayama (breath work).

Who is the session for:

Anyone who is curious about how yoga could benefit their work and life. The session is open to all levels of experience, with beginners and those who have never practised before very welcome. We will move to build some heat, and stretch intentionally into our bodies, as part of a small group of up to 12.

Drop us a line below if you'd like to save yourself a mat.

This session wll be led by Ella Reynolds — Programme Manager at YCN. Ella is also a 250hr Yoga Alliance Certified Vinyasa Yoga Teacher. We build capability

We help organisations of all shapes and sizes to become more capable in pursuit of their goals.

To do this we focus on what we believe to be the three key drivers of organisational capability — People, Purpose and Partnerships. Whether through our open learning programmes, or tailored consultancy work; we love bringing together creatively-minded groups to work and learn in modern and motivating ways.
