Building Resilience
Workshop | YCN Library — For our members and programme participants

In this session we'll explore ways of supporting ourselves holistically, becoming better equipped for whatever comes our way at work.

We all face challenging times at work, as in most areas of our lives. We might be great at planning and mitigating risks, but at times there will be situations, people and external circumstances that knock us off course, stress us out or shake our confidence — many of them out of our control. But what is fully in our control, is how we respond to these events. Through awareness and practice we can train ourselves to think and react differently, changing the way we perceive challenges, and using these experiences to become stronger.

Being resilient doesn’t mean challenges disappear, but it does mean that we cope better, learn from past experiences and build an internal stability to thrive in times of difficulty. In this three-hour workshop we'll explore different approaches for growing resilience, and share some proven tools and techniques to immediately put into practice.

What we'll cover:

  • What it means to be resilient in the modern workplace

  • Shifting mindsets towards a growth focused outlook

  • How lifestyle choices support or reduce resilience

  • The importance of trusting our instincts, setting boundaries and saying no

  • Training the body and mind to regulate our highs and lows and be calmer and more present

How the session will be structured:
We'll explore some of the leading theory and approaches, and share opinions on how this can be applied in our own unique contexts through critical discussion. The session will include a mix of learning techniques and participating in practical exercises, including some breathing, meditation and light movement.

Who is the session for:
Anyone who wants support in changing the way they perceive and react to workplace stressors, and growing their personal toolkit for learning to thrive in challenging circumstances.

We build capability

We help organisations of all shapes and sizes to become more capable in pursuit of their goals.

To do this we focus on what we believe to be the three key drivers of organisational capability — People, Purpose and Partnerships. Whether through our open learning programmes, or tailored consultancy work; we love bringing together creatively-minded groups to work and learn in modern and motivating ways.
