In today's fast-moving and ambiguous world of work, it's no surprise that we often feel pressured and unfocussed. How can we ensure we're in the best frame of mind when it's time to make decisions?
This session is about examining what influences how we make important decisions, and equipping ourselves with positive mindsets and methods to more confidently approach them — and explain why we've arrived at any particular decision to others.
By discussing and practicing some fundamental mental checks, methods and proven approaches to decision making; we can lessen the chance of making poorly considered decisions, and the negative feelings that can accompany them. Self-awareness of our own natural styles of decision making — and how they relate to others we work with — is also something we'll build into the conversation.
What we'll cover
• The daily decision-making traps that we set ourselves
• Decisions Vs Outcomes, and lessons from the poker greats
• Practical decision-making techniques
• The role of growth mindset
• Alleviating feelings of pressure
• Clarifying aims
• The importance of timing; and larks, ows and 'third birds'
How this session will be structured
Led by a member of the YCN team, we'll work through a series of discussion points and exercises, bringing our own past and future decisions into focus to design around and deconstruct. Expect an energising mix of individual reflection, group discussion and practical application.
Who is this session for?
Anyone wishing to develop new ways of approaching daily decisions, to feel more confident in their approach and to be able to help others in their teams with the decisions that they're facing.
