Authentic and Purposeful Presenting
Workshop | YCN Library — For our members and programme participants

Led by regular keynote speaker, author and change consultant Mark Shayler — this half-day session is for those seeking to super-size their presentational skills.

Most of us don’t look forward to publicly presenting, but we’re often called on to. And we all know a good public speaker when we see one — they make it look easy, and so natural doing it.

This half-day session; energetically led by Mark, is a brilliant place to be if you want to get better at presenting — whatever level you think you’re currently at. It’s for those keen to super-size their presentation skills in ways authentic to them, and that can be put into practice immediately.

What we'll cover

• How to begin
• Dealing with nerves and energy
• Putting more of you into any presentation
• The role of the script and slides
• The power of the pause
• Understanding your audience
• Projecting energy
• How to end well

How will the session be structured?

Expect an energising and practical session which will begin and end with everyone in the group giving a short presentation. This is filmed and we’ll send you your before and after footage, privately, by follow up. You’ll be individually guided by Mark, and will take part in practice and discussion in pairs and groups.

Who is the session for?

Anyone who wants to refine or build on their existing presentation skills, whether you have a coming presentation in mind or not.

About Mark

As well as being regular keynote speaker and trainer, Mark helps some of the world’s largest and smallest businesses to become more sustainable. He’s a founding partner of the Do Lectures, runs Do Workshops and is also part of Good for Nothing – a collaborative group that delivers design and strategy work for good causes, for nothing.

"For anyone who wants to grow their confidence when presenting, and learn some simple frameworks for structuring killer talks and presentations, this is an unmissable workshop, led by a presenting grand master."
— James Rutter, Head of Brand, COOK

I took away loads of new techniques for how to make my presentations more engaging, how to structure them, different ways to approach them to draw out different reactions. And most valuably I learnt to recognise and overcome the barriers that were stopping me from presenting  with confidence in the first place.
— Ellie Cobb, Project Manager, Propercorn

A beautifully tailored experience by Mark, unlike any training session I’ve been to before. Mark’s expertise around storytelling really stuck with me and I’ve made it a staple of every presentation I’ve given since.
— Nick Miller, Marketing Manager, The Guardian

Partner with us

Creatively-driven organisations partner with YCN to continually build capability throughout their teams.

Our open, year-round learning programme brings people from across these organisations together, enriching their mindsets and skillsets, and building their networks too. We take targetted, topic specific sessions into members’ teams at their places of work; and, when required, help our members to connect with the smartest thinking from across our network in relation to specific business challenges.
