At this yoga class we'll explore the creative power of intention, and set our own intentions for the coming months.
There are many well-known benefits of physical yoga practice, whether it's stress reduction, increased energy and focus, or a stronger, more flexible body. Taking a small amount of time out of our busy weeks to move and breathe can make all the difference, and equally benefit our work as well as other areas of our life.
On a deeper level, the yoga tradition also offers a great deal of wisdom on how to live well, including many teachings that can be applied to our work. The yogic teachings on livelihood and vocation offer a pathway for making our daily work a practice — for getting clarity on our values and then bringing an attitude to our work that allows our actions to reflect and serve those values. What matters most from a yogic perspective is not necessarily the work we do, but how we do it.
On Friday 20th September join Ella at the Hugh Cubitts centre to explore the creative power of intention. After the lazy (or hectic!) days of Summer, September can bring with it space for reflection and focus, and an opportunity to clarify and reset your own intentions for the coming months.
What we’ll cover:
- A physical yoga practice designed to make space in the body and mind for new things, as well as time to move, rest and reset.
- Exploration of intention in yoga philosophy, and its relevance to life and work off the mat.
How will the session be structured:
Over 90 minutes, the session will follow a traditional yoga class format with participants practising a series of guided movements and postures, including some meditation and pranayama (breath work). For this longer session there will also be some time for self reflection and journalling.
Who is the session for:
Anyone who is curious about how yoga could benefit their work and life. The session is open to all levels of experience, with beginners and those who have never practised before very welcome.

This session wll be led by Ella Reynolds — Programme Manager at YCN. Ella is also a 250hr Yoga Alliance certified Vinyasa Yoga Teacher, and a 40hr certified Mindfulness meditation teacher. After having practised yoga for over ten years, she is now interested in teaching in order to share the benefits with others, with a strong belief that yoga should be for everyone.
