This pacey and interactive two-hour session is all about getting into the habit of giving and receiving valuable feedback in the right way and at the right times.
“The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place.”
George Bernard Shaw
---
More often than not feedback is delivered infrequently and formally, framed in the wrong way and not rooted in real observation. And so it's no surprise that it misses the mark, and can have highly negative consequences: points of view get muddled, identities challenged, emotions triggered and relationships rocked.
Being able to effectively give and receive feedback with those around us, whether our direct reports or bosses at work or those we encounter outside of it, will be fundamental to how we perform and how positive we feel about our relationships. This pacey and interactive two-hour session is all about getting into the habit of giving and getting purposeful and performance enhancing feedback in the right way and at the right times.
What we'll cover:
• Frameworks for giving and receiving feedback
• The importance of little and often
• Developing a growth mindset in others
• The challenges that come with giving feedback
• Separating data from interpretation
• 'Radical Candour'
• How to 'notice' and strengths based feedback
How the session will be structured:
Led by a YCN coach facilitator; we'll mix expert instruction, discussion and putting into practice lots of proven techniques for giving and receiving feedback.
Who the session's for:
Anyone wishing to get better at giving and receiving feedback in all sorts of contexts and happy to share their experiences to-date among a supportive group of peers.
