We are joined by Members and friends — bright and early — for a smart briefing on how to bring the best out in illustrators, presentations from leading industry commissioners and the chance to browse portfolios.
The first in a series of insightful morning briefings, was hosted in the warmth and comfort of the Shoreditch House Library. With an opening focus on the business of illustration, a team from YCN were joined by some smart industry guests to explore and discuss successful modern applications of illustration, and how to bring the best out in talent when commissioning it.
YCN Creative Producer Doris Tydeman, kicked things off sharing some 'Golden Rules' of illustration commissioning acquired from her own daily experiences, and complemented by editorial contributions by leading illustration agents at Handsome Frank, Big Active, Blink Art, CIA, Hugo & Marie and Outline Artists.
Wired UK's Creative Director and co-founder of the Ride Journal, Andrew Diprose, presented some visually stunning, seasoned and personal perspectives on the creative commissioning process, and the role that illustration plays within popular editorial formats.
Advertising agency BBH's Producer and Art Buyer, Aine Donovan, shared perspectives on the modern role for illustration within the advertising and communication sphere; and the learnings she's acquired from being at the forefront of it.
A big thanks to all those who came along. Some images from the morning, courtesy of Owen Richards, are presented below. More Breakfast Briefing dates and themes will be shared with Members shortly.
