Words count. And in these distributed times, the emphasis on being clear in our communication is greater than ever. Whether updating our customers, writing an all team email or persuading a nervous client on the best way forward — the choices we make in the ways we write, and the tone we strike, will greatly impact the change we can effect with others.
In this conversational, and expert led virtual session, we'll explore some examples of great writing, understand the succesful practices and principles at play – and take away some immediately applicable approaches to making our own communications stronger, more purposeful and effective in landing its message.
Joining to share their perspectives, open up conversation and answer our questions will be Mike Reed, founder of Reed Words and writer Vikki Ross. Mike has been a writer for brands since 1993, and set up his eponymous business in 2014, building a team of writers hard at work for clients including F1, Bulb and Skype. Vikki has been writing copy for big businesses for 24 years, specialising in branding and tone of voice. As well as helping clients like Sky, Sony Music and Adidas get their words straight, Vikki is a copy mentor at the School of Communication Arts 2.0), a judge for the likes of D&AD and the Effies and a community builder too, creating #copywritersunite and @copynights for fellow writers around the world.
