Better Business Writing
Remote learning | For our partners' teams

Sharpen your skills with the written word; and learn smart approaches for clear, compelling and persuasive communication.

"If I had more time I would write a shorter letter"
Mark Twain

It's easy to dismiss good writing as a 'nice to have', particularly when pressed for time or writing in contexts that don't seem as important as others. But its often these everyday places; the emails, proposals, covering letters and presentations that have the potential to grab people's attention and move them towards our point of view — simply by standing out amidst a sea of mediocrity.

From putting the reader in the driving seat, to using the rule of threes; being brutal about brevity (think Mark Twain) to striking the right tone — there's lots we can be doing to make an immediate impact on the ways we write, and how we get our audiences behind us. This session is all about getting stuck into them, and immediately applying them to whatever we need to write next.

What we'll cover:

• How to begin
• Hooking attention
• Know thy audience, and put them in the driving seat
• Economy with words
• Tone of voice
• Rhetorical rules

How the session will be structured:

We'll lay down some proven principles, before applying lots of new tools and techniques to live writing examples you'll be asked to come armed with.

Who this session is for:

Anyone who suspects their writing could be clearer and more persuasive.
