Seeking psychological safety
Remote learning | For our partners' teams

We'll share current thinking on this popular topic, before working through practical techniques for bringing more psychological safety into our own teams and cultures.

The idea of psychological safety, and its significance to the perfomance of our teams, has become a very popular one — and rightly so.

Studies show that psychological safety in teams enables risk-taking, openness, creativity and problem solving, people-retention, inclusion and much more too. And these are critical behaviours for step-changes in growth, and breakthroughs in products and services.

Being able to share weaknesses, be open about what's holding us back, admit our mistakes (while call out the mistakes of others when we need to) and confidently give feedback in all directions enables us to do our best work, and inspire others to do the same. And so the combination, and continually evidencing, of these and other characteristics in our company cultures is critical to attracting talent, building trust and driving performance throughout our teams.

In this purposeful and practical session we'll introduce some of the latest research and thinking on psychological safety, before collectively creating a playbook for building and sustaining it among our teams.

What we'll cover:

We'll explore approaches and tools for psychological safety including:

• The framing of conflict
• Positive assertiveness
• Pre-empting problems
• Curiosity as a driver of problem solving
• Aligning on purpose
• Ways to 'measure' for psychological safety

How the session will be structured:

We'll first draw on the perspectives of the group, before working through a structured series of ideas for building psychological safety — each attached to practical tools and plays to add to our playbook.

Who the session is for:

Anyone keen to take a tour of the topic, share their own challenges and opportunities among peers — and commit to applying new approaches among their own teams.
