This bite-sized, online session will focus on the benefits of making a mindfulness meditation practice part of your routine.
In recent years Mindfulness has proliferated across the west from its roots in Buddhism, as scientific research now backs up the wide reaching benefits; including cultivating transformative awareness — leading to personal familiarity with how one's own mind works, and a greater sense of stability, clarity and strength of mind.
The now popular concept of Mindfulness, and its mass appeal, has seen an abundance of commercial products emerge for its practice, from mindful eating apps to fancy gongs and expensive retreats. In actual fact all we need to practice is what we already have — our breath, body and mind.
In this sixty-minute session we will focus on learning the technique of Mindfulness Meditation and explore how and why you should make it part of your life.
What we'll cover:
• What Mindfulness meditation is, and what isn’t
• The difference between formal and informal practice
• The simple technique for Mindfulness meditation including posture, breathing and duration
• Tools for regular practice
How the session will be structured:
We will explore some theory and techniques, practice together and then share our experiences among the group. The practice, although rooted in Buddhism, will be taught in a secular way, open to all and with a non dogmatic approach.
Who the session's for:
Anyone who is curious about Mindfulness and the benefits it could have for their life and work. Or indeed those with an existing interest or practice who would like the support of a group environment or to clarify aims and try out techniques together.
