By the end of this session you'll feel more confident and capable to effectively give and receive feedback, for stronger and clearer relationships.
“The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place.”
George Bernard Shaw
More often than not feedback is delivered infrequently and formally, framed in the wrong way and not rooted in real observation. And so it's no surprise that it misses the mark, and can have negative consequences: points of view get muddled, identities challenged, emotions triggered and relationships rocked.
Being able to effectively give and receive feedback with those around us, whether our direct reports or bosses at work or those we encounter outside of it, will be fundamental to how we perform and how positive we feel about our relationships. This pacey and interactive session is all about getting into the habit of giving and getting purposeful and performance enhancing feedback in the right way and at the right times.
What we'll cover:
• Frameworks for giving and receiving feedback
• Positivity ratios
• The Behaviour, Impact, Do model
• Emotional triggers, and naming them
• The challenges that come with giving feedback
• Separating data from interpretation, and dealing with feedback that doesn't land
How the session will be structured:
We'll mix expert instruction, discussion and putting into practice lots of proven techniques for giving and receiving feedback with others.
