For Managers: Leading with Feedback

For Managers: Leading with Feedback

Thursday 21 November
11:00am12:30pmUK time

This session is focussed on sharpening your approach to giving and getting the feedback you need to thrive at work, and to drive continuous improvement in your team.

In the modern world of work, feedback is a must-have for managers and teams — the ultimate learning tool. It's something we must continually improve our ability to share clearly, and at the moments that matter most. And as well as giving feedback effectively with those around us, we've got to regularly and specifically pull it in, rather than wait for it to be pushed our way.

But often feedback is handled badly, whether it's delivered too infrequently, too formally, framed in the wrong way, not rooted in real observation and impossible to 'isolate' and act on. It's no surprise that this can have negative consequences; points of view get muddled, identities challenged, emotions triggered and relationships rocked.

Always be learning

In this collaborative workshop, grounded in live and relatable scenarios — and led by a YCN coach-facilitator — we'll explore proven approaches that help managers to make a habit of giving and getting performance-enhancing feedback at the moments that matter.

As noted below, everyone joining will be asked to complete a priming, 20-minute digital mini-module ahead of the live session — as part of our Manager Foundations pathway.

Content we'll collaboratively cover:

• The blockers to feedback flowing
• Strengths-based approaches
• The BID model (Behaviour > Impact > Dialogue/Do)
• Linking feedback to 'coachable moments'
• Pulling in the specific feedback you need
• Managing emotional triggers

This live workshop forms part of our Manager Foundations programme. You'll find a digital mini-module on Leading with Feedback at the programme pathway — something to diarise spending 20 minutes working through ahead of the workshop session. It will help you join having covered some core concepts and feeling primed to collaboratively dig deeper.
