Wired Magazine commissioned Alastair Philip Wiper to photograph behind the scenes at Adidas's Speedfactory in Bavaria, Germany.
Adidas’s Speedfactory in Germany is producing shoes at radically accelerated pace, in a digitised production that’s configured to innovate manufacturing to the speed of the internet.
Given special access, Wired Magazine commissioned Alastair Philip Wiper to photograph the highly sensitive headquarters. Built on an old potato factory on the outskirts of the Medieval city of Ansbach, the warehouse contains an intriguing mix of both high tech robots, and humans using traditional stitching techniques.
Alastair's compositions highlight how the futuristic sterility of machinery can work alongside the human touch. He takes an anthropological approach to the industrial subjects and infrastructure, drawing attention to the often unintentional abstract patterns that are revealed.
