We're currently recruiting for a number of positions; including a Project Manager, Programme Manager, Coach Facilitator and an Editorial & Research intern too.

Project Manager, New Now

Established in 2001, YCN (You Can Now) is a learning network. If you’re passionate about creativity, and helping others fulfil their goals — particularly those at the beginning of their professional journey — we’d love for you to join our central team and manage colourful, commercial creative projects as part of our New Now programme

Today, the past and the future

Today, YCN helps creatively driven organisations build capability throughout their teams to support their business goals. We do this by designing and delivering modern and motivating learning experiences that bring people together and get them talking, thinking differently, and trying out new tools and techniques that they can transfer back to their work and teams. We do this in relation to all kinds of topicas, and work with a brilliant line up of partners; from big retailers like Dr. Martens and Lush Cosmetics to tech maestros like WeTransfer and Secret Escapes.

But when YCN began in 2001, it was a different (albeit complementary) story. YCN started life in the higher education system, born from a network of universities, colleges and a goal of connecting new talent with industry; so that ideas, knowledge and expertise could be exchanged in mutually valuable ways. As YCN has evolved since 2001, we’ve kept up all of this grassroots, student and graduate focussed activity — for example through our annual student award programme, by visiting educational institutions each year to share insights with students and by connecting emerging talent with industry on a daily basis for live projects and commissions.

Last year we decided to give this next generation talent side of YCN it's own identity; and launched a programme called New Now to enable us to better communicate its past, future and purpose — enabling rising talent and industry to connect in mutually valuable ways.

We are now looking for a Project Manager to join the team, and support the delivery of the New Now programme, managing key projects within it — and contributing ideas and energy towards its future development.

The Project Manager opening

This is a brilliant opportunity for someone excited by the chance to support and develop emerging talent, to work with some of the most creative brands and agencies in the business — and to make a real impact on individuals and organisations. You'll need to bring experience of working with clients on live projects that have involved sourcing talent, agreeing costs and seeing things through from start to finish. As you'll see below, we're open minded about the nature of this experience, and its extent — if you feel you could do this job, we'd love to hear from you.

As a Project Manager your responsibilities will include:

— Helping brands and agencies source and connect with relevant emerging talent for live projects. This could be helping a design agency source as relevant illustrator, or a major retailer to collaborate with new talent for an in-store installation. You'll be managing all aspects from research and costing, to the ongoing delivery of the project to conclusion.

— Identifying and building partner relationships with brands and agencies; sharing opportunities for them to get involved; whether that’s setting live briefs to students or participating in events and other New Now activity.

— Helping to shape and deliver our annual Student Awards event where we bring together 300+  students and recent graduates with industry for a colourful and optimistic evening, focussed on their work and their future.

— Connecting in to the broader day-to-day wok of YCN, and the ways we’re engaging our clients and partners more broadly so that we’re always aware of where valuable overlaps exist.

You:

As our ideal candidate you’ll have:

— At least 1-2 years experience in a relevant role working directly with clients.

— Experience in costing creative projects.

— A passion for creativity and visual culture.

— Knowledge and appreciation of graphic and illustration styles.

— Evident passion for creativity and a drive to support emerging creative talent.

— Exceptional written, verbal and all-round people skills.

— An enjoyment for bringing groups of people together and joining the dots between them.

— A good insight into the creative industries and consumer culture.

— Good computer skills and familiarity with the obvious programmes and tools.

— A passion for continual learning and helping others to achieve their goals.

— Ideas for where we should be going next with the programme.

Programme Manager

We’ve an immediate opening for someone to creatively drive, and manage the delivery of learning experiences — both within our cross-organisational learning programme and in tailored programmes delivered to some of the most progressive organisations today; from retailers like Lush and adidas, to tech companies like WeTransfer and Secret Escapes.

Us

Established in 2001, YCN (You Can Now) is a learning network. We help creatively-driven organisations build the capability they need to acheive their goals.

We partner with a fine line up of market leading clients of all shapes and sizes; from big global retailers like Dr Martens and Ted Baker to extraordinary charities like the NSPCC and Scope. And we help them build capability throughout their teams, from the leaders at the top to their newest hires.

To do this we design and deliver a year round programme of workshops, classes, roundtables, talks and other in-person sessions that bring together people from across different organisations to build their skills around the challenges of the day. That could be, for example, sessions around wellbeing and resillience, creative craft or modern management methods. And through bespoke client programmes we take topic specific sessions directly into our clients places of work, targetting teams around specific performance goals; and designing rich and motivating learning experiences that help people achieve more by trying out new ways of working. Along the way we collaborate with the best subject matter experts, learning designers, behavioural psyschologists, coaches and facilitators to ensure a consistent standard of excellence in all we deliver. Over 95% of participants in YCN sessions feedback that they have have learned something they will now apply to their work and that they would recommend the session to someone else.

The Programme Manager opening

As a Programme Manager at YCN you will be central to the ongoing design and delivery of these learning experiences, helping to shape and continually improve the ways we deliver them to different groups. You'll have lots of ideas for the content we should be covering; be constantly abreast of the most contemporary and relevant speakers and collaborators for our talks and workshops, and be suggesting continual improvements we can make to our cutlure, approaches and processes.

This role will suit someone with relevant cultural and commercial programming experience in a progressive learning environment — keen to make real, visible and rewarding impact to the development of a super-engaged learning community. You'll be working as part of a close-knit central team, and liaising daily with our clients, practitioners and other collaborators — becoming a recognised and respected face in their valued interactions with us.

Responsibilities will include:

• Developing ideas for sessions in our core learning programme; from panel events to bite-sized workshops
• Working with subject matter experts to design and deliver events
• Introducing events, moderating panels and doing live Q+A's with brilliant people.
• Supporting our company culture with energy and ideas
• Researching potential speakers for events, and new practitioners for future workshops

As such our ideal candidate will have:

• 3+ years of relevant experience
• A passion for designing learning experiences
• A willingness to multi-task and collaborate
• Experience of facilitating groups and public speaking
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Brilliant people skills
• A growth mindset, curiosity and love for learning

Coach Facilitator

Established in 2001, YCN (You Can Now) is a learning network. If you can draw from the disciplines of coaching and facilitating — and demonstrate the most valuable attributes of both — then we’d love for you to join our central team. You’ll be helping shape and deliver learning experiences for some of the most forward-thinking organisations around today.

Us

We help organisations build the capability they need to achieve their goals. To do this we focus in on three key areas — enriching the skills of their people, defining their purpose and strategy, and connecting them with relevant expert partners.

Coach Facilitator opening

We’re looking for someone to bring relevant experience and outlook; to help us shape and deliver learning and capability experiences; both within our core, cross-organisational learning programme and for specific client projects too.

Some good examples of the kind of things you’d work on:

• Delivering workshop sessions on all kinds of topics to cross-organisational groups within our core learning programme. You’d be working from proven session content and structures; and then evolving it to work even harder with your own spin and expertise.

• Shaping and delivering two day’s worth of content for a global leadership development event for a major retailer’s senior management team; partnering with other collaborators to run focussed 90 minute workshops, moderate roundtable discussions and supporting groups through whole team exercises.

• Facilitating a series of ‘live learning’ sessions with marketers from a leading insurance company; enabling them to build new skills in collaborative working in relation to specific current business challenges they’re facing.

• Running an ongoing series of sessions for a group of agency founders, creating a space for them to share and discuss individual and common challenges.

• Delivering a series of skills focussed workshops for a group of apprentices at a national newspaper; blending group discussion with the introduction of topic specific exercises on things like managing upwards or networking.

• Taking the leadership team of an NHS subsidiary through a series of established workshop formats to arrive at a renewed mission statement.

You:

As our ideal candidate you’ll have:

— Clearly evident experience from previous experiences working with senior teams from big businesses.

— Coaching and facilitation credentials, although that needn't be a formal coaching certification.

— Ideas for how to continually improve the content and resources you help to shape and deliver.

— A willingness to support client acquisition by bringing your energy and expertise to key meetings.

— The ability to help clients understand how best to achieve their goals

— A want to empower more junior members of the team with your knowledge and mentoring.

— Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

— A passion for learning and unlocking the potential to learn in others.

— A mission driven outlook and growth mindset.

— Buckets of energy with which to motivate everyone around you.
