Constructive conflict, with Sarah Banks
Learn practical and empowering approaches to purposefully addressing the inevitable conflict that arises in our work and lives.
Conflict is inevitable. Friction, disagreement, opposition to our ideas, clashing opinions, mis-aligned values.... And while it's not something we'd actively seek out, it is something that can lead to positive change and purposeful outcomes, when framed and approached in the right way. What we need to avoid is passing the 'conflict tipping point' — a relational point in time, where things go bad, situations become irreversible and there's a big knock on to individual and team performance, wellbeing and company culture.
This session, led by coach and mediator Sarah Banks, will enable you to explore and understand various types of conflict, how they tie into the different kinds of relationships you have in and outside of work — and to arm yourself with proven ways to make conflict a constructive (and even creative) opportunity, rather than one that leads to stress and despair.
What we'll cover:
• Thinking like a mediator
• Conflict clinic: learning from some real scenarios
• Lessons from transactional analysis and 'Healthy Adult' thinking
• Regulating emotions
• Pre-empting others' actions
How the session will be structured:
Sarah will share some theory, open conversation and lead practical exercises based on proven tools and techniques to purposefully take forward.
Who the session is for:
Anyone keen to better understand the notion on conflict; and to arm themselves with methods of approaching it in modern, constructive and intentional ways.
