Negotiating well is an exercise in empathy, creativity and communication excellence. And in the ever-changing, modern world of work, as in life — there are ample opportunities to sharpen our abilities in this most vital art.

Are we negotiating?

Whether we’re consciously aware of it or not, we all negotiate on a daily basis — whether at work with our peers, bosses and clients, or on a personal level with our boyfriends, builders or kids at bathtime.

Building our confidence and capability to negotiate challenges us to reinforce other key skills like listening, questioning, problem solving and the all important ability to shift our perspective and see the world through someone else’s eyes.

As we’ll explore together in this session; knowing the why, where and how of purposefully sharing conversational control, combined with the power of collaborative ‘Win Win thinking’ will be key to our negotiation success.

Because when we negotiate well, not only do we arrive at outcomes that further our cause, but we enrich and strengthen the relationships that matter the most.

What we'll cover:

• The key stages of any negotiation and how to prepare for them.
• Harnessing ‘tactical empathy’.
• Global listening, noticing and naming,
• Using questions to sense-check hypotheses.
• The fundamentals of collaborative negotiation and ‘win win’ thinking.

How the session will be structured:

Led by a YCN coach facilitator, we'll mix working through some key insights and core content with group exercises and scenarios to ensure we're flexing new approaches around real life challenges.

Who the session is for:

Anyone interested in upping their smart when it comes to negotiating favourable outcomes at work, in life and everywhere in between.
